Diabetic Diet Meal Plan
Created specially for those with type 2 diabetes or pre-diabetes who want to better manage their blood sugar levels, lose weight and get on top of their condition to reduce the risk of diabetes related complications.
This diabetic diet meal plan includes 3 meals a day plus often a snack or side dish too. This diabetic diet plan is low in calories to help you lose weight. It provides all unprocessed foods, is low in carbs, high in fibre, high in protein, low in fat and salt. See bottom of page for more information.
As well as following this meal plan, we strongly encourage you to:
- Add a piece of fruit every day (approx. 100 calories), such as apple, pear, orange, kiwi fruit, ½ cup fresh or frozen berries. The fruit adds valuable nutrients and fibre.
- Engage in regular physical activity which has been shown to improve blood glucose levels, cholesterol and triglycerides and well as burn calories.
- Self monitor your condition and stay under the care of a dietitian or doctor.
